Eco-Friendly Shaving Solutions

For gentlemen shaving is an effective method to remove unwanted and unneeded hair (facial and body) but is still quite aggressive for the skin and therefore it requires some precautions. In addition, shaving creams, foams and lotions have a serious impact on the environment and on your skin because they contain a variety of chemicals and additives. So if you want to help conserve the environment and lead a healthier life, improve your shaving ritual with the help of these eco-friendly solutions.

Preparing the skin before shaving

Shaving must be performed on clean skin. Cleanse the skin beforehand or make a scrub that is adapted to your skin type in order to limit the impurities that could create skin problems.
To prepare for a flawless shave, you can apply a light coat of baking soda with your hands to clean the skin. Let it dry for 3 minutes, then rinse and dry your skin with a towel.

How to make your own shaving foam

When it comes to shaving, you can use a foam purchased in supermarkets, but natural recipes are much cheaper and equally as effective! Black soap is an excellent alternative because its texture allows the razor to glide well, while moisturizing the skin. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil which is, among other things, a powerful antibacterial and a natural anti-inflammatory that will leave your skin healthy and refreshed. Another great solution is to use olive oil! It will protect your skin in the same way and allow the razor blade to glide gently.
Here’s a good recipe for making your own shaving gel:
10ml vegetable oil
10 ml liquid Aleppo soap
1-2 drops of essential oil, peppermint, tea tree or lavender
Mix everything and store it in an airtight container to maintain it properly. You could reuse a bottle previously used for another cosmetic product.
The texture obtained after mixing will be quite close to the gel. Apply a small amount of the product on your skin and start shaving.

Replace your shaving cream with a shaving soap

If you are not a fan of using shaving creams bought from stores but you also don’t have the time to make your own shaving cream, a good tip would be to replace your shaving foam with a shaving soap (natural) and a badger. This way each and every morning you will keep your fingers clean and soft. Shaving soap has all sorts of positive effects: it is nutritious, moisturizing, exfoliating and disinfecting, it really softens the hair. Pay attention when choosing the badger. You can either opt for real hair badger, boar or natural silk, Another advantage of using a soap and badgers is that they prevent pimples, cuts and ingrown hairs.

Opt for a electric shaver

By using one of the best electric shavers 2015, you will manage to save water and time at the same time. A good solution would be to opt for an electric rotary shaver, rather than for a foil shaver. This shaver requires no batteries or electricity, being a particularly economical razor and more importantly, very convenient because it can be used anywhere, anytime, whether at the office or traveling. Needless to say, it is more environmentally friendly than disposable razors. If you are worried about hygiene, you should know that the best electric shavers 2015  come with innovative cleaning stations which sanitize the device, making it perfectly safe for your next use.
